Berthold Moyo was born in Zimbabwe in 1974 and grew up with a passion for design. He completed an honors degree in applied art and design with cum laude from the National University of Science and Technology in Zimbabwe, as well as a Bachelor of Technology from Tshwane University of Technology in South Africa. He also has a diploma in education and a diploma in fine art. His inclination for detail stems from his earlier studies at the Paris School of Art, where he subscribed to the tenets of the “peintres de realte” (realist painters).
He lectured and was head of Art and Design at Mkoba College in Zimbabwe from 2000-06. Moyo wishes to share his inspiring and telling paintings. He explains that there is no point in going to the grave with all these paintings in him. As a full-time artist, he now spends his time studying his environment. He is inspired by the many tribal faces, flora and fauna that grace Africa. He explains that he longs to depict the rich diversity and abundance in tradition and cultural practice on canvas.
